Miechelle McKelvey, Ph.D., CCC-SLP

Education/Clinical Experience

Dr. McKelvey received her doctorate from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Master's degree from the University of Nebraska Kearney and her Bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Dr. McKelvey worked in a hospital setting in acute care, in-patient rehabilitation, intensive care unit, telemedicine, and the outpatient clinic, which served a variety of adults and children with acquired neurologic communication disorders. She is dedicated to teaching students, mentoring future speech pathologists, and developing researchers here in Nebraska.


Teaching Areas

Dr. McKelvey teaches courses in augmentative and alternative communication, acquired neurogenic disorders, motor speech disorders, voice, and dysphagia.


Research

Dr. McKelvey conducts research in the areas of augmentative and alternative communication for adults with acquired neurogenic communication disorders, traumatic brain injury, and motor speech disorders.


Professional Memberships

Dr. McKelvey is a member of ASHA and Special Interest Division 2 (Neurogenic Disorders) and 12 (Augmentative and Alternative Communication). She is currently a board member for the Nebraska State Stroke Association, a representative for the National Aphasia Association in Nebraska, and the faculty advisor for KSSLHA (Kearney Student Speech Language and Hearing Association).
